Mary Orth Hikes in the Alps and Sightsees in Turin

Mary Orth relives her visit to the Alps, relaxing in a thermal pool, and sightseeing in Turin. The Italian description is first and the English translation follows it.

La scorsa settimana sono andata per una corsa al porto e mi sembrava così irreale. Questo scorso fine settimana è stato lo stesso con Le Alpi! Quando siamo arrivati, era letteralmente una boccata d'aria fresca. Gli alberi e le montaghe sono stati un cambiamento dalla città e lo smog. Il nostro albergo grande aveva una stupenda piscina termale che era veramente lussuosa e anche tranquilla. Non sapevo che noi saremmo andati alle terme e non ho pensato di portare il mio costume da bagno, purtroppo quindi non ho potuto nuotare. Però è andato bene perché ho messo le mie gambe nell'acqua, ma ancora non era lo stesso. Sebbene, le mie gambe fossero molto morbide dopo le terme.

Per cena la prima sera abbiamo avuto una bella serata insieme con un ambiente elegante. C'erano circa almeno dieci diverse portate di cibo che erano troppo deliziose! Il mio preferito doveva essere la quiche o i ravioli. Che buono! Ma sto divagando...

La prossima mattina, sono andata a fare una passeggiata sulla montagna per quasi otto ore. Non posso descrivere la magnificenza della natura noi abbiamo visto che ci circondava. Mi sembra che stavamo vivendo in quella foto che c'è su una bottiglia di acqua - con un cielo azzuro, le montagne, un fiume, l'erba verde e una casetta carina nel mezzo di tutto. Il tempo era perfetto con una brezza calma nel giorno soleggiato. Valeva la pena di svegliarsi presto. Il nostro gruppo è salito in cima a un lago ghiacciato. Claudio mi ha detto che siamo stati a un terzo dell'altezza del monte Everest. Ho pensato che quella era incredibile e ero molto orgogliosa che tutti noi l'abbiamo fatto! Il panorama dalla cima era diverso da qualsiasi altro luogo. Davvero mi ha fatto sentire sulla cima al mondo, mentre allo stesso tempo molto piccola. Era veramente una vista che non dimenticherò mai. Dopo che siamo ritornati in albergo, abbiamo avuto di nuovo la nostra lezione per un po' e dopo, mi sono rilassata vicino alla piscina.

Poi, dopo le Alpi, siamo partiti per Torino. Era meraviglioso! è stato probabilmente una delle mie città preferite in Italia. Il misto di tutti e due i parchi e l'architettura centrale sono combinate perfettamente. Abbiamo visto il Museo Nazionale del Cinema, il Museo delle Antichità Egizie, il Palazzo Reale, il Piazzo San Carlo, il Museo di Scienze Naturali, e la Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. Erano tutti grandi, ma mi sono divertito più è state la Galleria d'Arte Moderna e anche il Museo del Cinema!! Che divertente. Vorrei solo che abbiamo avuto più tempo a Torino. è stato un fine settimana divertente!

Last week I went for a run at the port and it seemed so unreal. This weekend was the same with the Alps! When we arrived, it was literally a breath of fresh air. The trees and the mountains were a change from the city and the smog. Our grand hotel had a stupendous thermal pool that was luxurious and calming. I didn't know that we were going to a spa and I didn't think to bring my bathing suit, so unfortunately I wasn't able to swim. Though it was okay because I put my legs in the water, but still it wasn't the same. Although my legs felt very soft after the spa.

For dinner the first night we had a beautiful evening together with an elegant ambiance. There were about at least ten different courses of food that were all too delicious! My favorite had to be the quiche or the ravioli. It was so good! But I digress...

The next morning, I went for a hike in the mountains for almost eight hours. I can't describe the magnificence of the nature that surrounded us. I felt like we were living in that picture on all the water bottles - with a light blue sky, mountains, rivers, green grass and a lovely cottage in the middle of everything. The weather was perfect with a calm breeze on a sunny day. It was worth it to wake up early. Our group climbed to the top to a frozen lake. Claudio told me that we were a third of the altitude of Mount Everest. I thought that was incredible and I was very proud that we did it! The panorama at the peak was different than any other place. I really felt like I was on top of the world, and at the same time very small. It was truly a sight that I will never forget. After we returned to the hotel, we had our class again for a bit and after, I relaxed near the pool.

Then, after the Alps, we left for Turin. It was marvelous! It was probably one of my favorite cities in Italy. The mixture of both the parks and the central architecture combine perfectly. We saw The National Cinema Museum, The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, The Royal Palace, Piazza San Carlo, Museum of Natural Science, and the Modern and Contemporanean Art Gallery. They were all great, but what I enjoyed the most were the Modern Art Museum and also the Cinema Museum!! So much fun! I would have liked to have more time in Turin. It was a great weekend!
